An actual post to follow, but for now, one more link to my one fun video posted online, in case the other link doesn't work. Dotty is outside right now working on her next masterpiece.

PS I just discovered --in my semi-annual googling of my own (I thought) unique name-- that some other fellow is calling himself "Bear Capron" and posting opinion pieces about turning undocumented workers into felons.... well, it's a free country, but it's a drag having my real name being appropiated by some guy out in Indiana. I guess there's little chance that people would think that his rants are mine. And I suppose it's just vanity to think that in this big world, even with a very unusal name, one could hang onto the idea that one's name is like a snowflake.

(briefly) resurfacing six months later
A sunny Saturday morning. Lots of homework this weekend, but all enjoyable, what with screening and evaluating my 8th graders' music videos, finishing up the rehearsal schedule and laying in the foundations of OLIVER, which I am directing this season. A wonderful cast of 28 high school students. And colleagues to work with whom I respect and admire.
I wrote last about starting on THE LARAMIE PROJECT, which came out in mid-November. We did the play with eight actors, just like the original, meaning that these bright, energetic teenagers each mastered a dozen discrete characters. I was so proud of these young people.
Now I am just coming down from the high of being part of a huge benefit show that my school put on with a neighboring school, a high quality variety show with mostly dance, along with artwork that was raffled off, two sold-out houses, a good amount of consciousness-raising about the good cause we were supporting, namely, helping SAVE THE CHILDREN build a school with a clean water well in rural Ethiopia. The artists and performers all gave their best to make this an extraordinary evening of collaboration and celebration. Amazing talents and openhanded mutual enjoyment. And we raised over $25,000 for SAVE THE CHILDREN. Hooray!

paint it green
off to school to prepare the stage for the coming school year, in this case I think a coat of dark green semigloss just to get us going. planning to do THE LARAMIE PROJECT as the fall play for the high school and am looking for ways to make our relatively large box proscenium stage seem more intimate and connected with the audience. probably will extend the apron out over the audience about six feet, as I'm looking for a more 'in your face' connection with the audience.

almost 8:20, approaching my favorite time
...of day.
when I was little, I decided that twenty past eight was my favorite time. Ever since, I think about those whom I love at that time--- often twice a day, in the a.m. and in the p.m. I like the way the hands look on the clock face. And I don't care whether many of those I love are in vastly different time zones. All friends. All relative.

Summer, NH
last week of freedom
setting up my first-ever blog
savoring this gorgeous mid-August weather in the last full week of vacation before the new school year.
I've been a drama teacher for 32 years already and it's always exciting to get started again.
Meanwhile, my honey (who is also my spouse) is in the other room proof-reading the final draft of his monumental latest work, NOSFERATU, an opera in three acts that will see its true world premiere at two American opera houses this fall.
Now to explore the world of blogs....
